4P00060-24 Robust grinding for online evaluation of strength properties of kraft fibres

The project aims to develop a robust and reliable technology that allows characterization of fiber strength properties online.

In this project, we wanted to explore different techniques for mechanical processing of wood pulp in order to examine the fiber strength. We have compared and tested different methods and concluded that a conventional milling technology is most appropriate. A variety of loads has been studied in the project and analyzed in the lab and with PulpEye. The results show good correlation with traditional PFI laboratory milling and the response of the fiber data corresponds well with the expectations.
There is potential to move on towards online real time analysis.
